1. Indian Navy Chief embarks on a visit to Sri Lanka

The Indian Navy Chief Adm Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff, is on a four-day official visit to Sri Lanka from September 22 to 25.

During the visit, the CNS will meet the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, VAdm Kanchana Banagoda, and engage in bilateral discussions with the three service Chiefs and other senior government officials on a broad spectrum of defence cooperation.

The Indian Navy regularly interacts with the Sri Lanka Navy through annual defence dialogue, staff talks, and other operational interactions, which include the Sri Lanka India Naval Exercise (SLINEX), Passage Exercises, training, and Hydrography exchanges. In addition, both Navies regularly participate in multilateral events such as the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium, the Galle Dialogue, MILAN, the Goa Maritime Conclave/Symposium, and the Colombo Security Conclave.

2.    Rajnath Singh to inaugurate TASL facility in Morocco

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the Tata Advanced Systems Limited facility, which will manufacture the WHAP (Wheeled Armoured Personnel Carrier) 8x8 for Morocco.

Morocco had signed an agreement with the Tata Group in September 2024 for manufacturing the WHAP 8×8 Infantry Fighting Vehicle in the African country with a minimum 35 percent indigenous content.

The Royal Moroccan Army also operates the 6x6 HMV truck developed by Tata.

3.    Indian Navy to issue tender for LPDs

The Indian Navy will issue a tender to acquire 4 LPDs for 80,000 crores, according to a report by ANI.

The Indian Navy operates a single amphibious transport dock ship, INS Jalashwa (L41). Formerly USS Trenton (LPD-14), acquired from the United States in 2005 and commissioned in 2007.

The Indian Navy has been unsuccessful in procuring the LPDs in its previous attempts.

4.    CRPF to procure Caracal sniper rifle

The CRPF has awarded a contract to the UAE-based small arms manufacturer Caracal to supply 200 sniper rifles. The CSR .338 sniper rifle is going to be procured by the CRPF along with 20,000 rounds of ammunition.

The CSR 338, chambered in the .338 Lapua Magnum calibre, is designed for extended distances. Equipped with a 10-round magazine and ambidextrous magazine release and safety mechanisms, the CSR 338 embodies versatility.

The sniper rifles will be made by the joint venture of ICOMM and Caracal. The joint venture had inaugurated its manufacturing facility in Hyderabad on April 21.

5.    LCA Tejas to be equipped with Meteor missile

In an interview with NDTV, HAL Chief has confirmed that the LCA Tejas MK-1A will be equipped with the Meteor missiles. The Meteor missile is already in service with IAF Rafales, and it has also been acquired by the Indian Navy for Naval Rafales.

METEOR has been developed by a group of European partners led by MBDA to meet the needs of six European nations: the UK, Germany, Italy, France, Spain, and Sweden. All with a common need to defeat the threats of today and in the future.

The Meteor missile is integrated with Eurofighter Typhoon, F-35 Lightning II, Gripen, and Rafale. The Tejas will become the fifth fighter jet to be able to carry the Meteor missile.

6.    Lockheed Martin unveils Vectis

Lockheed Martin, the company, unveiled Vectis, a lethal collaborative combat aircraft (CCA) to advance air dominance for American and allied militaries.

A Vectis seamlessly integrates with 5th and next-gen aircraft to advance the family of Systems vision for next-gen air dominance.

Capable of executing precision strike, ISR targeting, electronic warfare, and offensive and defensive counter-air missions. Provides multi-domain connectivity, whether standalone or as part of integrated teaming missions with crewed aircraft like the F-35.
