1. Indian Army contingent departs for Yudh Abhyas 2025

An Indian Army contingent departed for Fort Wainwright, Alaska, to participate in the Yudh Abhyas 2025. This is the 14th edition of the exercise. The exercise takes place from 1st to 14th September.  

Madras Regiment of the Indian Army and soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment "Bobcats" of the Arctic Wolves Brigade Combat Team, 11th Airborne Division of the USA  will rehearse a spectrum of tactical drills, including heliborne operations, the employment of surveillance resources and unmanned aerial systems, rock craft, mountain warfare, casualty evacuation, combat medical aid, and the integrated use of Artillery, Aviation, and Electronic Warfare systems.

India conducts a large number of military exercises with the USA, such as Exercise Yudh Abhyas, Exercise Malabar and Exercise Tiger Triumph than any other country.

2. Kim Jong-Un departs for Beijing to attend Chinese military parade

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un departed for Beijing by train on September 2 to attend the Chinese military parade, which commemorates the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and China's fight against Japan's wartime aggressions.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and 26 world leaders, on September 3, will attend the military parade in Beijing.

While the event would mark Kim's first attendance at a major multilateral event during his 14-year rule, it would also be the first time for Kim, Xi and Putin, all key challengers of the U.S., to gather at the same venue.

3. Russia carrying out studies required to produce Su-57 in India

Russia is carrying out studies required to produce Su-57 in India, a report by ANI mentioned. The studies are investment-related for the manufacturing of Su-57 in India.

India has stated that it needs at least two to three squadrons of fifth-generation fighter jets, and the Russian Su-57, along with the American F-35, is a contender for the project.

Indian public sector unit Hindustan Aeronautics Limited already licenses and manufactures the Russian origin Su-30 MKI fighter jets in its Nashik facility, which, if required, can be used for the Su-57 jets. The Russian agencies concerned are carrying out studies to determine the level of investments they will have to make to manufacture the aircraft in India, defence sources told ANI.

4. Radical group members and  three militants arrested in Manipur

Two members of the Meitei radical group ‘Arambai Tenggol’ and three militants were arrested by security forces in Manipur.

An official said that the Manipur Police arrested the two Arambai Tenggol members from Imphal West district. Both are residents of Thoubal district, and have been identified as Laishram Tondomba Singh and Tourangbam Amarjit Meitei alias Yaima. 

Police recovered seven HK33 rifles, two M4A1 carbines, two Glock .45 auto pistols and a large quantity of different types of ammunition from their possession. The official further said that the security forces arrested three hardcore militants of the banned People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) from Imphal East and Imphal West districts.

5. Germany to buy 90 Rafael Litening 5 Pod

Germany has approved the purchase of 90 Rafael Litening 5 targeting pods for its Eurofighter Typhoon fleet, aiming to boost its armed forces’ precision strike and reconnaissance capabilities.

The Litening 5 is a fifth-generation air-to-ground and air-to-air platform incorporating a mid-wave and short-wave infrared sensor suite, high-resolution colour imaging, and dual-wavelength laser designation.

Its features include moving target detection, multi-target tracking, automatic target recognition, long-range target identification, low-radar cross-section threat detection, missile cueing, and unmanned aerial system detection.

6. Axiscades bags order worth Rs 150 crore in defence 

Axiscades bagged a new order worth Rs 150 crore in the defence space. Its Subsidiary Mistral Solutions has secured a significant new order from the Combat Aircraft Systems Development & Integration Centre (CASDIC), DRDO, Ministry of Defence, Axiscades said in an exchange filing.

The order is for the development of 10 Electronic Control Units for the cooling system for the Su-30 MKI (fighter aircraft) upgrade.

It was awarded for prototype development and will be followed by a forecast production order for an estimated 600 (Electronic Control Units), with a value of Rs 150 crore over a period of five years.
