1. RM Rajnath Singh and Russian Defence Minister to co-chair IRIGC-M&MTC

Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh and Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov will co-chair the India–Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military & Military-Technical Cooperation (IRIGC-M&MTC) on 04 December at Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi. The Ministry of Defence, in a post, described this as a major milestone in further strengthening the unbreakable India–Russia defence partnership.

2. India–Russia may develop a fifth-generation fighter by 2030

The joint development of a fifth-generation fighter jet could become a new area of cooperation between Russia and India until 2030, according to Dmitry Shugaev, Director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC), speaking to TASS ahead of the Russian–Indian summit.
He stated that key areas through 2030 include combat aviation: expanding licensed Su-30MKI production and upgrades, and the joint development of a fifth-generation fighter.

Shugaev added that long-term cooperation could also cover modern air defence systems, UAVs, and joint production of advanced air-to-air weapons. Ground forces cooperation includes modernising supplied equipment and co-developing advanced tanks and combat vehicles, along with naval technology and shipbuilding support.

3. India observes Navy Day

As the nation marks Navy Day, the Indian Navy stated that it remains equipped, trained and ready to defend India’s maritime interests that power the country’s rise to a Viksit, Samriddha Bharat. The Navy saluted the courage, discipline and dedication of past and present sailors, calling itself a combat-ready, cohesive and Atmanirbhar force, in a post on X.

4.Indian MoD signs deal for MH-60R sustainment package

India’s Ministry of Defence has signed a sustainment package for its 24 MH-60R Seahawks, developed by Lockheed Martin. The USD 946 million package will enhance the Navy’s maritime capabilities, build interoperability with the U.S. and regional partners, and strengthen bilateral security, according to the U.S. State Department.

5. Exercise SURYAKIRAN in full swing in Uttarakhand

The 19th edition of bilateral Exercise SURYAKIRAN between the Indian Army and Nepali Army is progressing in full swing at Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, from 25 November to 08 December 2025.

Focused on operational synergy, the exercise includes Jungle Warfare and Counter-Terrorism drills in mountainous terrain, with strong emphasis on niche technologies, interoperability, and best-practice exchange. It underscores the shared commitment of India and Nepal to regional peace and security, further strengthening defence cooperation and camaraderie.

6. F-16C jet of USAF Thunderbirds crashes


An F-16C Fighting Falcon of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds crashed near Trona Airport, south of Death Valley, California, during a training sortie.
The pilot ejected safely, sustained minor injuries, and was taken to a hospital in Ridgecrest. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
