1. Two militants killed in Kulgam Forest

Two militants were killed while two soldiers were killed in action, and one soldier was injured in an ongoing encounter in Kulgam district of southern Kashmir on September 8.
Officials said that, based on specific intelligence input from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, a joint search operation was launched by the Army, police, and CRPF in the Guddar forest area of Kulgam. "Vigilant troops observed suspicious activity and, upon being challenged, terrorists opened fire, prompting a fierce exchange of gunfire," a statement by the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps of the Army said.
During the operation, two soldiers, Sub Perbhat Gaur and Lance Naik Narender Sindhu, and an Army Major were injured in the gunfight, the officials said. Gaur and Sindhu succumbed to their injuries. The officer's condition is stated to be stable. A post on X by Chinar Corps said that it "honours the supreme sacrifice of the bravehearts, Sub Perbhat Gaur and L/Nk Narender Sindhu, in line of duty for the Nation".
2. BSF arrests a Pakistani intruder along the border

A Pakistani intruder was arrested by the BSF along the international border in the RS Pura sector of Jammu. The incident took place at the Octroi outpost.
A protest is being lodged with the (Pak) counterparts," BSF said.
Officials said the intruder was identified as Siraj Khan from village 27-Chak in Bhalwal tehsil of Punjab province in Pakistan and was seen crossing the border and approaching the border fence in Suchetgarh tehsil at 9.10 pm on Sunday. BSF officials said the intruder was warned, but he paid no heed.
3. Army carrying out flood relief operations under Operation Rahat

The Indian Army's Western Command has been conducting extensive Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) missions under 'Operation Rahat',
These missions are carried out in the flood-affected regions of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir, the states where nature's fury has claimed several lives and caused devastation.
The Army has deployed 59 columns, including 17 Engineer Task Forces. It has evacuated over 6,000 citizens, including 300 paramilitary force personnel.
Over 13,000 citizens have received medical assistance, including emergency evacuation of critical cases.
4. PM Modi to inaugurate Combined Commanders Conference on September 15

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the three-day combined commanders' conference of the armed forces in Kolkata, a Defence official said on Monday.
The conference, which will be held from September 15 to 17, will focus on reforms, transformation and change and operational preparedness, an official statement said.
The theme for this year's conference, which will be inaugurated by Modi, is 'Year of Reforms - Transforming for the Future', it said. Theatre commands are likely to be discussed in the conference.
5. SSS Defence to supply additional sniper rifles and ammunition

Indian small-arms start-up SSS Defence has received additional orders for its .338 Lapua Magnum calibre sniper rifle from a friendly country according to a report by The Print.
The Bengaluru-based company has also got a $ 30 million contract for the supply of 7.62×51 mm ammunition of a different calibre from the same country.
The private firm had earlier bagged contracts to supply nearly $50 million worth of ammunition from multiple friendly countries, including a neighbouring country, the deliveries of which have been completed.
6. DSEI opens in London without Israeli companies
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer's administration has excluded the officials from the four-day event. This is an instance of worsening Britain-Israel ties. The 51 Israeli defence companies that are set to attend, including major arms manufacturer Elbit.
DSEI (Defence and Security Equipment International) 2025 is a major biennial trade exhibition for the defence and security industries. It serves as a global forum for governments, armed forces, and companies to showcase and learn about the latest military and security technologies and is taking place on September 9.
State-owned Rafael and Israel Aerospace Industries will also have their exhibits, which makes Israel the fifth-largest national contingent after the UK, United States, Australia and Germany. 17 companies from India are also participating in the DSEI 2025.
