1. India-Canada Ties Set for Higher-Level Engagement

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand held talks on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Jaishankar described the discussion as productive and said the two countries were preparing to take bilateral relations to a higher level. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has also indicated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi could visit Canada around December.

2. India Warns Pakistan at UN, Says Right to Self-Defence Will Be Exercised

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar told the UN General Assembly that India will continue to exercise its right to defend itself against terrorism. Without naming Pakistan, he described the previous speaker as a “serial practitioner of terrorism” and said attempts to normalise terrorism or claim immunity from its consequences would not stand. He also said states sponsoring cross-border terrorism must be held accountable.

3. CDS Says China Border Stable, India Not Letting Guard Down on Pakistan

Chief of Defence Staff General NS Raja Subramani said the situation along the Line of Actual Control with China is currently stable and there is no cause for concern. He also said India is not letting its guard down regarding Pakistan or China and has measures in place to safeguard territorial sovereignty.

4. Pakistan-Afghanistan Tensions Escalate Along Border

Afghanistan said 28 fighters were killed and 32 captured after allegedly crossing from Pakistan into Nuristan, while Pakistan rejected the allegations as baseless. The claims come amid renewed fighting and tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

5. Pakistan's First Hangor-Class Submarine Conducts Live Missile Firing

Pakistan Navy's first Hangor-class submarine, PNS/M Hangor, has conducted its maiden live weapon firing in the Arabian Sea, launching an anti-ship cruise missile. Pakistan Navy chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf observed the exercise and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the firing.
