1. Indian Army Chief Visits Nepal for Official Visit

General Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, Chief of the Army Staff, Indian Army arrived at Kathmandu for an official visit to Nepal from Aug 17-19, 2026. During his visit, General Seth will be conferred with Honorary Rank of General of the Nepali Army.

The Indian Mission in Nepal said in a post on X, saying the visit reaffirms the unique and time-tested defence relations between India and Nepal, founded on shared values, mutual trust and enduring army to army ties. The COAS also interacted with H.E. Shri Naveen Srivastava, Ambassador of India to Nepal and discussed ways to further strengthen this comprehensive relationship.

2. The Orange-utang “Reduced” Military Exercises with South Korea

US President Donald Trump said on Sunday he had instructed the Pentagon to substantially reduce joint military exercises with South Korea, saying he was ‘’not happy’’ that the United States had previously agreed to participate in them.

In his social media post on Truth Social, he mentioned Seoul's refusal to take part in actions against Iran and also cited his ‘’very good relationship’’ with North Korea’s Leader Kim Jong Un.

3. Kawa UAV Pvt Ltd successfully conducts a flight of Divyastra Mk3 loitering munition

Kawa UAV Pvt Ltd (HoverIt) conducted a successful flight of the Divyastra Mk3, a next-generation, jet-powered loitering munition on Sunday, which is developed indigenously in India. By this successful test, India showcased growing capabilities in advanced precision-strike technology, drone technology and of its initiative of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. 

Kawa UAV Pvt Lt. (HoverIt) said the “historic flight” of Divyastra Mk3 on Aug 11 was conducted at a designated drone testing airstrip in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

4. Indian Defence Secretary Visits Armenia  for Official Visit

Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh arrived in Yerevan on August 16, 2026 for a two-day visit, where he was received by the Ambassador of India to Armenia and senior representatives of the Armenian Defence Ministry.

The Indian Defence Ministry posted on X saying, during the visit, he will engage with the Armenian leadership to chart the course of future India–Armenia defence and strategic cooperation.

5. India’s Security Concern: Ukraine’s Fire Point offers Drone Tech to Pak

As per reports, Ukraine’s leading producers of long-range unmanned systems, Fire Point offers Pakistan its technologies and unique combat experience. A potential drone deal could add another layer of complexity to India’s security situation.

According to Ukrainian reports, the FP-1 drone by Fire Point is its primary long-range strike assets, which is capable of striking targets thousands of kilometres away. The FP-2 is a shorter-range strike drone with a range of around 200 kms.
